On your terms. At your pace.

IRS Emergency!

What can I do?  The IRS Seized my Bank Account or other assets and it will ruin me.  I need help right now.

During regular hours, I monitor my email and instant message accounts very closely.  I also keep a pretty close eye on the comments on the blog, but if you need positive action, please use the steps below.  In the Subject line of your email or message, please put “IRS Emergency, Require #1 Priority”.  I will acknowledge your email or IM as soon as I see it to provide assistance.  If you want us to go to work immediately, please tell us upfront so we can expedite your situation.

If you need immediate assistance, please dial 970.367.6220.  If you get a voicemail it is because I am on the other line.  I will prioritize voicemails by your message, so please be detailed.  If you call after 3pm in your time zone, and your requirement is not immediate, you can count on my reply by 11am in your time zone, the following day.

  • Outside of business hours or weekends.  I work a lot, so if you contact me then, I may respond immediately, but please don’t count on that.  I will respond as quickly as I can in accordance with the stated policy on the “Contact irs back tax help” page.

Here’s what to do if you have an IRS Emergency:

Step 1:  Contact irs back tax help via irsbacktaxhelp@gmail.com.  Put “IRS Emergency, Require #1 Priority” in the subject line or call at the number above.

Step 2:  Include the following information:  (estimates are fine).

  1.  The nature of the emergency?  Is it an IRS bank levy (IRS 668a), IRS receivable levy, IRS wage garnishment (IRS 668w), or other?  If not sure, learn about IRS Notice of Levy, (IRS Notice 668 a or w).
  2. The type of tax is overdue?  (1040 income, 941 payroll, etc…)
  3. The number of tax quarters or years that are past due?  If it’s business trust fund tax, 941 payroll that are overdue, please tell us how many quarters.  If it 1040 income tax owed, please tell us how many years.
  4. The number of tax authorities with back taxes owed.  (Sometimes there are threats from multiple taxing authorities.) IRS back taxes only, or IRS and state?
  5. How you would prefer to be contacted to solve the IRS problem?

Step 3:  (Our responsibility) someone here will contact you with an immediate email reply to acknowledge receipt.  We will provide the answers you are seeking, a referral, or a proposal to solve the IRS Emergency.  (If we send a proposal, it will include the due diligence I preach, so you can get through that part quickly.)

Step 4:  You set the pace.  From this point forward you will determine the urgency.  We go to work immediately under emergency conditions all the time.  If you want to pursue an alternative and use us as a backup plan, that is fine too.

Sometimes the IRS will seize a bank account dedicated to payroll on payday.  Sometimes the IRS will seize your house or business with everything in it.  Those things can be undone.  We do it all the time.

We understand what you are going through, but you must still perform the due diligence on the representation you are considering.  It takes 10 minutes, and it could save your life.  No joke.

Regards,

The IRS has placed a wage garnishment on my paycheck and I didn’t even know it was about to happen so I am unable to pay rent, food etc. I’m not sure if I owe past 2011. Thank you!

If you’re not sure the wage garnishment is valid, or it’s creating an undue hardship, contact the the Taxpayer Advocate and complete IRS Form 911 (Request for Taxpayer Advocate Service Assistance.)

Since our 2012 taxes are not yet due, and you’re unsure whether or not you will have an outstanding past due tax balance, prepare them and file before your tax filings are late. The largest IRS penalty is the Failure to File penalty.
